Society’s Cockeyed Sense of Sexual Exploitation
Here are some recent comments I’ve received or seen, on global internet sites and discussion boards, that evidence the total confusion of society over what constitutes sexual assault by fraud and why it’s a crime. My response, when I feel a response is warranted, follows the question in italics.

In looking for a potential mate, it is ok to lie about your physical characteristics? Seriously? They only true reason to have sex is to pass on genes to children, but it is ok to lie about your genes? Lie about your income and it is rape though? You people are crazy.
I support your law, so long as it is truly fair. Which means women don’t get to lie about their appearance anymore. Since that will never happen, I label you all hypocrites.

Analogies may be tough for a person who doesn’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re”. You seem to lack compassion and it’s clouding your judgement.

Except when “silly lies” rape people. An easy, convenient triviality to the offender can have a major impact on the victim’s life. Many of the hoaxes created in internet dating are not only for the purpose of defrauding someone for sex, but as a means to scam them for money as well. The scammer is, indeed, a prostitute, whether male or female. When you’re having sex with a prostitute, don’t you think you’re entitled to know?

I told a chick that I drove a Ferrari and she immediately wanted to have sex with me. Afterwards we were sitting on the couch and she asks “Can you give me a ride home now? It’s getting kinda late.” and my roommate heard her and responded “On what, his bike??” Her jaw immediately dropped and she looked at me and I told her “yea it’s true, I only drive a bicycle.” I couldn’t stop laughing. It was terrific.
Could you be more of a jerk if you tried? Nope, I don’t think so!! But, unfortunately, what you are bragging about would constitute a “he said, she said,” and lack sufficient evidence to be prosecuted. And jumping into the sack with you without any attempt at discovery of the facts is just plain irresponsible behavior that does not warrant a case.

I dont even know where to begin to comment on all the misogynistic comments on here, other than to say that if all these people realized the law could potentially used by males to prosecute women, they would certainly be in favor of this law. And, if males think the law is silly, they certainly wouldnt need to avail themselves of it, if for example, a woman lied about the color of her hair. The harshness of some people’s comments on here, shows the need for such a law — they wouldnt bother using such vitriolic speech if defrauding women werent so important to them.
Negative responses give us a pretty clear picture of the person’s character. Why would anyone object unless they want to preserve their ability to lie in order to get sex, or protect someone else’s ability to do so?
People who don’t lie as a means of seduction would have no problem with the passage of this legislation. People who do lie, clearly show how little they respect other people’s sexual autonomy. They simply don’t give a damn that they’re defiling another human being. To them, that’s their idea of a good time. They’re emotionally disturbed!
And yes, a law to send them to jail when they do it is the only way they will stop! Just look at their remarks. They feel perfectly entitled to carry on this way.

And hopefully, the next woman, or man, you do that to will know you are sexually exploiting them and be repulsed by your behavior. Now that society is having this discussion, more people will see you as a CAD when you do so.
Keep in mind that most little white lies are not prosecutorial. That doesn’t make it ok, however. Do you think so little about yourself that lying is your idea of sex? I’ll bet you think you’re perfectly normal.
This sounds like more Feminist victimization culture rhetoric. If a woman drops her panties because she believes a man has money, power, or something desirable — only to find out he misrepresented himself — why is she not accountable for her decision?

Here’s a new comment I received from a man named Vince:
So a woman can be arrested for rape, just for lying about her age to a man before they engage in sex. Do you realize how ridiculous that is, and just how unworkable what you are suggesting is? People tell tons of lies, if someone wanted to be vindictive against someone and have them up for rape, they can normally choose from a smorgasbord of lies that the other person has told. This suggestion is so ill thought out and so problematic it’s quite frankly ridiculous.
And here’s my response:
In 8 states, a child who suffers statutory rape is considered a rapist if they have lied about their age. “Rape by Fraud” is an accepted defense for statutory rape in those states. But in only 2 of the 8, AL and TN, does their penal code punish an adult (who should know better,) when the same lie comes out of their mouth. Six of those eight states recognize lying about age as a form of rape, but only hold children accountable for doing so.
It is not the offender’s right to determine what is trivial or harmless to their victim. If they thought it didn’t matter, they would not have lied.
Cases of lies about age are one of the reasons I recommend that people check the person’s ID before the relationship gets to the bedroom. In this, or any case of rape by fraud, significant proof of wrongdoing must be present and the victim must act responsibly. If the offender blocks the attempt to establish age by presenting false documentation, they are conducting rape by fraud.
Sexual Assault by Fraud law will deter offenders from the “smorgasbord” of lies that you admit victims are being barraged with in our current society.

You’ve introduced an interesting concept into the mix… “emotional rape.” When a person’s highest emotion is taken from them by fraud, we term that “emotional rape.” When a person is sexually violated through the use of fraud, “rape by fraud” or “sexual assault by fraud” takes place. In your case, it seems you endured both.
Cases of emotional rape and rape by fraud are often conducted as a means to an ulterior motive. Immigration status stacks up very high on the list. Bilking assets is another. Business connections is yet another.
These cases are very difficult to prove and the authorities often simply turn a blind eye, They don’t want to put in the leg work needed to create justice for the victim. Only in cases where the government sees a significant financial gain, or in violent cases where there is a clear “bad guy” that they’ill be recognized for bringing down, will they act appropriately. More frequently, they simply ignore the complaint.

The good news is that the subject is finally being openly discussed! Changes in perception don’t happen without dialogue. And the first reaction to something that breaks new ground or takes people out of their comfort zone, is often ridicule.
I look at every negative comment as an opportunity to change society’s misconceptions and bring about acceptance and awareness over this issue.

Thanks you for bravely stepping forward on the issue of violent rape vs rape by fraud. So frequently, I hear people object to this law on the basis that it somehow undermines the sympathy that violent rape victims should be accorded.
I have stated countless times that violent rape is a heinous act. But punishing other defilement in no way takes away from the recognition violent rape victims deserve. And certainly being dismissive of another’s pain over defilement, that was achieved in a different manner, does not do so. If that premise held true, we would ignore the crime of theft, which does not involve violence, because victims suffer robbery, which involves violence. Instead, both, indeed, are criminal offenses.
You have raised another good point which is that violent rape often occurs once; whereas, rape by fraud happens multiple times over an extended period. When the victim becomes aware of the deceit, they have to grapple with the overwhelming sense that they were raped on multiple occasions…. and even more horribly, by a person they loved and trusted. It undermines their entire value system and makes them feel horribly vulnerable because they were fooled into trusting the offender and can no longer feel confident in their own instincts toward self preservation.They simply can no longer feel safe.
This is absolutely the case. The issue is that people excuse a male by giving him positive names like “playboy” or “casanova” for being sexually promiscuous…No one thinks of the children…In many cases, men trap women by getting them pregnant…There is a psychology behind perpetrators, as they lack empathy. I’m not calling all liars psychopaths or narcissists, but I’m calling all psychopaths and narcissists, liars.
There is a diagnostic manual for the Antisocial Personality, which affects 5 percent of our population. Therefore, millions of people in the United States are affected by pathological liars and con artists. This is what they do for a living. Due to their lack of empathy, they are so skilled that the FBI has training on how to detect them, because they lack vocal or emotional shifts while being confronted. They can walk away from many situations, unscathed.
Just as many women who are victims, the perpetrator is also above average in intelligence, so it’s not a game of who is “dumb enough to fall for it”, but it IS a game for these personality types. People without empathy have no remorse so they can rape physically or mentally, without problem. Nor will they get caught bc these types can also be high functioning members of society. Abuse by deceit is what it is.
If a person tricked me into open heart surgery because he decided to open an office, bought the equipment, and performed surgery, killing me in the process, is he a fraud or was I not educated enough to check his background?
Fraud is fraud, and I support this cause because I’ve been a victim of abuse, emotional and physical, and continue to fight until I receive the justice I deserve for myself and all women of the future.
Maybe Casanova will think twice before forgetting to tell a woman he has herpes, or HIV the next time….and it won’t be HER fault for not asking for medical records…accountability is needed somewhere and it begins with the accountable party who frauds another. Not the other way around.

These people leaving their vile and ridiculous comments on every article on this topic just have no clue, no idea. I blame a lot of that on the authors of the articles — they don’t get it, so they can’t explain it to anyone else.
